Inter-House Basketball Match

In this era of cut throat competition, it is important to provide opportunities to cater to not only academically brilliant students but also to students who are interested in games, sports and other co-curricular activities. In pursuit of this, the fixture for interhouse basketball match for both girls and boys was drawn on 9th of May under the direction of school CCA Head (Mr. Tashi Penjor) and the school custodians for basketball (Mrs. Karma Choney Om and Mr. Rajesh Gurung). The knockout fixture was drawn through lucky dip. Refreshments (Tetra pack juice) for the players were served using the school’s CCA fund. 

 

Day 1 (10th May) 

On the first day, the boys’ match was between Singye House and Chung House. The game was played in two halves of 15 minutes each, total of 30-minute-long game. Both the teams had very good players and it was in fact a very close game with a final score of 20:21, Chung House on the win advancing to the finals. 

 

The girls’ match was played between Druk House and Singye House. The game was played in two halves of 10 minutes each, total of 20-minute-long game. The match ended with a final score of 0:8, Singye House on the win advancing to the finals. 

 

Day 2 (12th May) 

On the second day, the boys’ match was between Druk House and taag House. The game was played in two halves of 15 minutes each, total of 30-minute-long game. The match ended with a final score of 20:14, Druk House on the win advancing to the finals. 

 

The girls’ match was played between Chung House and Taag House. The game was played in two halves of 10 minutes each, total of 20-minute-long game. The match ended with a final score of 0:26, Taag House on the win advancing to the finals. 

 

Day 3 (13th May) -SEMIFINALS

On the third day, both boys’ and girls’ loser teams played against each other for the third position which was considered as semi-finals. The boys’ loser teams, Singye and Taag Houses played against each other with a final score of 19:28, Taag House taking the third position. 

 

The girls’ loser teams, Chung and Druk Houses played against each other with a final score of 4:6, Druk House taking the third position. 

 

Day 4 (16th May) -FINALS

The finals were to be played on the 14th of May, however due to some other ad-hoc programs, the finals were played on 16th. Before the finals started, the Principal and Vice Principal kicked off the game by taking a free throw each. 

The boys’ finalists – Druk House and Chung House played against each other. Team Druk was in the lead throughout the game. However, team Chung tried to keep up with the score till the very end. The final score was 39:15 with Druk House as the winner and Chung House as runners up. 

 

The girls’ finalists- Taag House and Singye House played against each other after the boys’ final match. Similarly, Taag house led the game throughout the game. The final score was 16:2 with Taag House as winner and Singye house as runners up. 

 

In a span of about a week, the students were able to get a sense of, cooperation, teamwork and importance of such co-curricular activities. Moreover, we were also able educate the sports captains and other students on how to work as table officials, referees and about the qualities of a good sportsman.
